Monday, April 5th, 2021: HIGH FIRE DANGER FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 5, 2021 Strong and gusty south winds, gusting to near 40 mph in some areas, will yield elevated fire spread potential again on Tuesday. Highest grassland fire spread rates will be found along and northwest of I-44. Outdoor burning of any kind is strongly discouraged.
Monday, March 29, 2021: RED FLAG FIRE WARNING! 25 to 35 mph sustained winds and 45 mph gusts coupled with low relative humidity will allow any fire that ignites to spread rapidly through dry materials. With soil still relatively saturated from previous rains, firefighters will be unable to battle any fire that becomes out of control in any open range situation. In conditions such as these, no one should intentionally ignite anything outside. Absolutely no outdoor burning today or until conditions improve!
Sunday, March 28, 2021: The National Weather Service office in Tulsa has issued both a Fire Weather Watch and a Wind Advisory, in effect for parts of northeast Oklahoma along and north of I-44, beginning Monday, March 29th at 11 am and continuing through 8 pm. South winds sustained at 20 to 30 mph and gusting to 45 mph will combine with afternoon minimum humidities from 20 to 25 percent to lead to locally critical grassland fire spread rates of 250 to 350 feet per minute. Outdoor burning is not recommended, and avoid behaviors that may inadvertently cause a spark. It is further recommended that any residual embers or live coals from previous fires be fully extinguished to prevent flare ups generated by wind or act as an ignition source in the extreme conditions expected.

Wednesday, March 17, 2021: We remain under a Tornado Warning until 2:30pm. This warning was issued due to radar indicated rotation. Nothing has been confirmed, but please remain cautious and in a secure location until the storm has passed.
Saturday, March 13, 2021: A friendly reminder from your Fair Oaks Fire Department to change your clocks and change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors! Take time to test those devices, lives may be saved by working detectors and alarms.
Wednesday, March 10, 2021: Even though humidity levels are increasing, 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts exceeding 40 mph coupled with dry soil and vegetation, fire spread rates will still remain near 200 feet per minute. Once again for today, outdoor burning of any kind is strongly discouraged!
Tuesday, March 9, 2021: Fire weather danger will be a concern once more as unseasonably warm temperatures and south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts around 40 mph prevail. While higher relative humidity values this afternoon are expected, cured vegetation and gusty winds places northeast Oklahoma in the area of greatest concern for rapid fire spread. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
