Jones Fire Department

Jones fire department did in service training this morning on our new extrication equipment, our new tools allows us to be more mobile and being battery operated it speeds up the operation. We added a few new tools which allows more of a pit stop style of team operation. We are excited for the departments upgrade but hope they won’t be needed.

9/11 Memorial Stair Climb These Jones firefighters are climbing this morning in the memory of New York firefighters that lost their lives that 9/11 day, were very proud of these guys.

Jones is fixing to get strong winds, rain and possible small hail.....have a back up as we might lose the electric with these winds.

Currently Jones Isn’t in the direct path but we’re watching it closely.

Be weather aware......current storm entering Oklahoma county just north and west of Edmond at this time.

Be weather aware today and have a plan. The elementary school library is a public shelter opened by the fire department only in the event that Jones is in the pathway of a dangerous storm or tornado. We will not open the shelter just because storms are happening in other areas. Remember no pets are allowed inside the school or shelter with the exception of a verifiable service animal, no exceptions sorry. Once inside everyone must stay inside until the threat has passed, no smoke breaks or smoking inside,including vapes. We also request everyone respect the facility and make sure it stays clean and orderly.

Excellent outcome this evening for a ongoing silver alert individual. Jones Pd, Jones fd and Midwest ambulance worked together to make access to the patient through muddy conditions and along side the river bank. The female had gotten lost on Tuesday and somehow ended up in Jones in one of our fields along the river. After two nights and rainy conditions she was very glad to see help. A person hunting for mushrooms seen the vehicle and contacted the authorities. We’re happy to report she was in good condition for the situation and she was transported to the hospital to be evaluated and reunited with family.
