Junior Welfare League of Enid

The ladies of Junior Welfare League had their April meeting last night to award the Gala Beneficiaries with their donations and announce the recipients of the Gentry Neal Scholarship for Volunteerism! Gala beneficiaries included RSVP, Catholic Charities, and Return Engagement. Each of these businesses focus on filling needs in our community. Scholarship recipients included Gracie Holder, a senior at Chisholm High School, who volunteers with Loaves & Fishes, Oklahoma Blood In...stitute, Salvation Army, and tutors fellow students. Brian Higbee is the second recipient. He is a senior at Enid High School and volunteers with Loaves and Fishes, the Food Bank of Oklahoma, and the City of Enid’s Keep the Community Clean project. Both students have demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism in and outside of the classroom. See more

Garfield Elementary Staff wanted to reward some of their students who exceeded expectations when COVID-19 thrust them into virtual learning. Each teacher submitted names of students who showed a commitment to their education and names were drawn for a reward. The Junior Welfare League was able to donate money to support their efforts and 30 scooters were given out to students today!

In February, the Junior Welfare League's Care to Share program purchased jackets, pants, socks, tops, soap, toothpaste, and laundry detergent for five children. Care to Share partners with area school counselors to support needs of students. March community donations include Enid Plainsmen Baseball, Hospice Circle of Love, YMCA, Leadership Greater Enid, Golf Tournament benefiting Bennie's Barn, Garfield Child Advocacy Council, and the Enid High School Tennis Team. Thank you to all our Return Engagement shoppers, those who have donated, and our members for your volunteer hours and commitment! Enid is a better place because of you!
