It is with a heavy heart and a deep pain that I write yet another note about the tragic and unnecessary deaths of young men. We stand in solidarity with the family of Daunte Wright and the family of Adam Toledo. Daunte and Adam should be with their families today. And yet they are not. At KIPP OKC and KIPP Tulsa, we strive to dismantle systemic racism by providing a learning environment where students feel safe, heard, and valued and are empowered to bring change.... Darius Kirk

Recognizing that a just world is one in which George Floyd’s life would never have been taken, the conviction of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin is a crucial step towards change, accountability, and justice. While we applaud this ruling, we know that this murder continues to impact all of us. Change is only possible when we hold people accountable for their crimes. There remains much work to do to evaluate and advance systems that value the lives of Black Indigenous People Of Color. We will continue to strive for a world where Black and Brown children wake up daily with no doubt that their lives matter.
