Colt Fields Buffalo Valley Senior Spotlight [Buffalo Valley], Okla. Colt Fields, a senior from Buffalo Valley has attended Kiamichi Tech for the past two years in the EAST (Education Accelerated by Service and Technology) program. This program allows students to engage in real-world experiences to learn to think critically and problem solve. Colt stated, The EAST program has prepared me to use the skills that I’ve learned in this program to get a job in the field I will be p...ursuing. In this program, we work on different projects and learn to communicate with our clients to complete the projects we are working on for them. Colt also said that while attending Tech he enjoyed the Anatomy and Physiology class that he had with Mr. Phillips. Kiamichi Tech also offers math and science classes for high school students to take along with their programs. This allows students flexibility in being able to come to Tech and not miss out on a core class needed at their high school. Colt will be attending Kiamichi Tech next year in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning) program utilizing the Steps to Success scholarship. Students can also qualify for other means of financial aid by applying. For more information on financial aid opportunities contact, Amanda Dedmon, Student Services Specialist, at the Talihina campus. See more

Congratulations to Elijah Fuller for being accepted into the 21st class of the Youth Leadership Oklahoma (YLOK). Elijah is a junior at Buffalo Valley high school and is enrolled in the EAST program at Kiamichi Tech-Talihina. YLOK selects 52 rising high school seniors through a competitive application process and are then taken on a week long educational journey in the summer across Oklahoma, learning lessons about leadership, trust, problem solving, communication, cooperatio...n, career opportunities, but most importantly, why Oklahoma is such a great place to live and work. Leadership Oklahoma believes that to keep highly caliber people in Oklahoma, you must evoke an emotional attachment to it; a sense of loyalty, inclusion, responsibility and accountability. If they are a valued part of the solution, then you must provide a reason to stay. We believe that after these students go through Youth Leadership Oklahoma, they will feel exactly that. The Youth Leadership Oklahoma program is provided free of cost to those selected to participate. Leadership Oklahoma funds the Youth Leadership Oklahoma program through the support of donations and grants. See more
