Last November, tragedy struck for truck driver, Alfredo Romero. Due to a horrific accident, he and his wife Maria have been through an indescribable journey o...f pain, fear, anger, frustration and helplessness. But today was special. Today, we got to visit with Alfredo, Maria, and their youngest daughter and see how, even though the pain is still there, the hope has returned. We heard about the daily battles Maria faces with doctors, therapy sessions, and insurance companies, but we also saw an amazingly strong woman who is working tirelessly around the clock to keep her family running while advocating and caring for her husband. And then there was Alfredo. His quiet strength was tangible. His ability to continue to fight and thrive was evident and admirable. To say we were amazed with his pride and perseverance would be an understatement. We know their journey is not even close to being over, but we hope this gift will ease some of the financial burden that has built up over the past months. We hope that we can help alleviate some stress that keeps them up at night. This was the first official gift given in the name of The DT and Joan King Foundation, but we will be working hard to make sure it is the first of many.
