https://www.firehero.org/fallen-/michael-dale-mike-russell/ 4 years gone our friend, but never forgotten.
A message from our GM: Information on blackouts: We have received notification from our power provider that load curtailment initiatives have been halted at thi...s time. This means that temporary, rolling blackouts are currently not being implemented. NOEC was not impacted by any blackouts today. Our neighboring utilities PSO, GRDA and Evergy were not so fortunate. We had a large outage that impacted the Ketchum, Gray and Zena substations this morning. Our system has seen historic stress over the past couple of days and things tend to break in this extreme cold. We were able to restore Ketchum and Zena rather quickly but an issue with a transmission line is still impacting the Gray substation. KAMO and NOEC crews are battling this issue right now in the bitter cold. We hope to have all of our members on the Gray substation restored within the next two hours. One of our lineman sent me the attached photo of the repair work in progress. We have been asked to encourage members to try to reduce their impact on the electric grid as much as possible. Small behavioral changes can make a big impact when it comes to lowering your energy use. Unplug unused electronics, chargers and lights. Limit the use of larger appliances such as washing machines, dryers and dishwashers. Use smaller kitchen appliances like toaster ovens, microwaves and slow cookers to make meals, rather than relying on your range or oven. Turn your thermostat down one or two degrees. We encourage you to stay tuned for further updates but I am hopeful the worst is behind us. I want to say a special thank you to all the members who have been supportive and appreciative of the work my team has been able to accomplish during this historic weather event that has impacted so many utilities and across the state and region. Your kind words help lift their spirit during a tense and stressful time. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Daniel Webster
Our power supplier is planning temporary, rolling outages in order to maintain system integrity and avoid damage that results in extended outage times. At this... time, they anticipate outages to last approximately 1 hour. We will not know when or where until the outage actually occurs. We have received notification from our power supplier that they have reached the critical load capacity. Any energy you can conserve will help in avoiding these outages.
I want to take a moment and speak to those living in the Leach School District. We have a $1.7 million dollar bond, coming up on February 09. This bond will be ...for a new building for PK-4 grades. It will also serve as a community storm shelter! It will house around 600 people and be open in the event of a tornado warning! Our community has nothing like this right now! Our students deserve a building like this to learn and grow in! Right now 3rd & 4th grade have to walk outside to another building to use the restroom and get a drink! IT’S COLD! These buildings are so old, and need so many repairs. We are just ripping off old bandaids and replacing them with new ones until the next time! PLEASE consider voting yes on February 09! Our children and community deserve this! I could go on and on, but I won’t. If you have any questions, please message me or call the school; 918-868-2277. I WILL NOT debate with anyone on this post. I have included the plans of what we’re needing, and how much your property taxes will go up. Please look at it monthly. I’m sure most of you can spare an extra $25-$30 a month to put toward this. Thank you to all the veterans out there who have served our country and protected the freedoms we cherish and enjoy everyday. We owe you a debt that can never be repaid.
