Lighthouse Assembly of God 19.12.2021

A couple of days ago on a local Vintage Garage Sale page, I was blessed to see a post of a friendship quilt that had been posted for sale from Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. It was a girl who I had attended church with many years ago and have known her family since I was a small girl. Jowana Nall Johnston was selling the quilt. I got to buy it and it has brought a flood of memories back to me. I took pictures of it and I think I was able to get each strip of the quilt whe...re you can see the names on it. It was made after 1957 and before or during 1961 as my niece Bobbi is on it but her brother who was born in Dec 1961 isn't. It isn't the prettiest quilt ever but it has such a special meaning to me because of all the people and the memories of my childhood church. We came from lots of different places but we were family. Quite a few of them were my blood relatives, but we were all connected through the blood of Jesus. I have so many good memories of Lighthouse. When I think of my childhood the church is the main part I remember. The wonderful revivals that went for weeks and not only that but many nights we would be in church until midnight or after just loving on Jesus... the CA Rallys for the 12-36 year olds that we went to all over Carter County... summer camps.. Vacation Bible School that lasted 2 weeks and ended with a picnic at Whittington Park where we would march to on the last day... Betty June Moore and Childrens Church and her ability to make the stories come alive... Sunday School classes where we had some of the sweetest teachers that ever lived... The old green shanty where the Junior class was held... wedding and baby showers... Junior church... Sunday Morning Radio broadcast that we did standing in the church with our rollers in our hair... Christmas and Easter Caroling... Homecomings.... baby dedications and funerals... Bro and Sis Moore, the best pastors anyone could ever have had... Yes, this quilt is more than just fabric and batting.. it holds a wealth of love and hope and faith.. memories no one can take away. So glad I saw Jowana's post about selling it. I probably won't use it but I did think how to be wrapped up in it would to be surrounded by so many wonderful saints, many of whom are in Heaven now. I thank God for my heritage and for Lighthouse Assembly of God Church. See more

This was posted on my timeline a few minutes ago. James McMillan was the son of Ellen McMillan, brother of Jauniva McMillan Ray and Ralph McMillan. They were members of our Lighthouse family. James was mentally challenged but like most mentally challenged people, he had a sweet spirit!! He had lived in a home in Pauls Valley??? for many years. He is now rejoicing on the streets of glory and no longer is held back by his earthly body. Sent from Sharon Ray Harris Just wanted to up date everyone to know that My Uncle James McMillan's Funeral will be @ graveside Friday November 13th, 2015 @ 10:00 am @ Rosehill cemetery in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Bro. Davis will officiating the service.
