When asked why hula is important to Hawaiian culture, professional dancer Kapua Dalire-Moe said, "Hula perpetuates Hawaiian culture. It is the vessel that keeps our stories and traditions alive as we pass them on to future generations." For Kapua and many other Hawaiians, hula is more than just a form of dance, but a way to preserve the culture and identity of people rooted in tradition.
